Decorating your Kitchen for Fall
The leaves are starting to fall, and the colors outside our windows are changing to rich golds, rusts and brown. It’s time to change with the season. Add some Autumn colors to your home. This is an easy and quick change, particularly in your kitchen. Think of adding small doses of color. A few new dish towels in a warm rust color, a tablecloth with an autumn leaves motif or potted flowers on a window sill. If you don’t have a green thumb, purchase clear glass containers in rust, gold, plum and brown. Group them in a window so the sunlight comes through. Another idea that looks terrific, is a large colorful plate on a plate stand, placed in a corner of your kitchen counter. Group it with a green plant and maybe a leaf shaped smaller dish. It creates a vignette in an otherwise blank spot.
Serving dishes are another way to add color to your table. These can be inexpensively purchased at Homegoods, Crate and Barrel or Christmas Tree Shops.
To make the kitchen feel cozy, what about some chair pads, or a table runner in those autumn colors?
Lastly, for those people wanting to make more of a change, try painting one kitchen wall a pumpkin color, keeping the other walls in a lighter tone of gold. Autumn colors are warm and inviting. They say, “Come in, sit down and enjoy a cup of tea with me”.
