Back to School: How will you use your kitchen now that the kids are gone?
There are some smiling faces out there today and there are some teary eyed faces also now that school is back in session. No matter what the mood, kids are back into their routine and now we can get back to ours. I find the fall an exciting part of the year for cooking in my kitchen. How will you kick off the alone or family time in your kitchen this year? School lunches come to mind when the first bus starts a rolling. I can see the hectic rush to get their lunches made before they get up for breakfast….
Watch What You Wish For, Dream First
My mother always reminded me when I was young; “Timmy, watch what you wish for.” I never quite grasped at that age how important that one line would be as I matured in years. That line reminds me of many related things in my business. Being a kitchen designer/salesperson now for over 34 years, (I started my business in 1979) I have come across many lines from clients and perspective clients. I could probably fill a book with these and become a best seller. One of the most noticed line that comes to my mind is when a client tells…
Gardening: Fresh Air and So Relaxing
~$ses.pdf2 Now that the spring is finally underway, I find myself in the garden. Isn’t it wonderful to “play” in the dirt? I remember as a little girl making mud pies and helping my mother in the garden. Although she didn’t grow vegetables, she did have the most spectacular roses. We had a fence on the back of the yard that was thirty feet long and was covered with climbing red roses. It is a sight that I have yet to recreate. It seems as though my little plot will not support roses. It is just too shady. Isn’t that quite…
Baseball America’s Pastime
I had the pleasure yesterday to leave work early and head into Fenway Park to see the Red Sox play. I’m usually not a fan of going to see a weeknight game mid week but had that little boy feeling of excitement to head in and make a night of it. I have owned weeknight season tickets now for almost 10 years but the thrill of knowing I was heading into Fenway, (one of the oldest ball parks out there) in April, was nothing short of exhilaration. There is something romantic about the game of baseball for us Americans. Eating at…
SUPERBOWL COMMERCIALS, HALF-TIME SHOW OR THE GAME?
The excitement for the Super Bowl definitely comes in three categories. 1) The anticipation of the amazingly expensive Super Bowl commercials (and which one will be the best). 2) The excitement of the super star performing for the half-time show (and what “blooper” will happen that they can’t hide from). 3) The glamour of watching your favorite NFL team (and how the “Ref’s are favoring the other team)… and, of course, the food and beverages we will enjoy during the game at those Super Bowl parties with our friends!! I have to admit that I definitely look forward to the…
Super Bowl XLVII Match Ups
The hype for the big game gets a whole two weeks to show the world what type of match-up it is going to be. This past weekend was tough to get through with no football (Other than the Pro Bowl if you want to call that a game) to speak of. I’m sure that the respective cities have heard much about the big game but as of here in the northeast, we really have not heard a lot about it. The biggest thing that I can think of about the game is the two Harbaugh brothers coaching against each other. This is…
Expressing our Gratitude
Thursday is Thanksgiving, the perfect time to stop and think about all the blessings we enjoy. Here at Wood Palace Kitchens, we are so grateful to all of our customers, who trusted us to come into their homes and re-create the most well-used space in the house – their kitchen. And in many cases, other rooms as well, such as bathrooms, and cabinetry in other parts of the home. We appreciate you so much. We’re very grateful to our business partners. Whether it’s the carpenters who do the finishing work or friends in BNI and the Chamber of Commerce who…
