Self-Cleaning Ovens – New Technology
Back in December we gave some tips for cleaning your oven, and we eluded to new technology that is being used in Europe. Well, it’s here! Whirlpool has it’s newest model out, with the SteamClean option. Whirlpool® 5.3 cu. ft. Capacity Electric Range with 12″/9″ Dual Radiant Element This 5.3 cu. ft. capacity electric range lets you enjoy two elements in one with the space-saving 12″/9″ Dual radiant element. Eating What’s in Season is Healthier and Tastier
What did people do before the invention of refrigeration? Before preservatives? They ate what was locally grown, in-season! There was no way around that. It’s tough in New England with such a short growing season. That’s why I love to take advantage of the bounty of fruits and vegetables that are available in July and August. There is nothing like eating corn within hours of being picked! Having grown up with it, I really can’t eat corn that was picked so long ago that it’s starchy tasting. I went blueberry picking with my grandchildren recently. Those berries were so sweet…

Designing a Kitchen for Entertaining
Many of our Wood Palace Kitchens clients like to entertain. And where is it that you think most of the guests end up hanging out? The kitchen, of course. So if that’s what you like to do, then if you’re thinking of remodeling your kitchen, there are some things to consider. I found a great article on HGTV.com that gives you some great questions to ask yourself, such as: What kind of events do you host (casual, formal, buffet, sit-down, etc)? How many people do you generally entertain at one time? How do you serve food? Do guests serve themselves…

Healthy Breakfast – Banana Trees
I love hearing stories from my customers about the experiences they’re having in their newly remodeled kitchens. Most of those stories involve cooking, family and entertaining. That’s why I like to share recipes from time to time. My friend and nutritionist Nicole Cormier has some great healthy recipes. Here’s one that’s also fun, so great for getting kids to eat healthy in the morning, or even for a healthy snack. Banana Trees Ingredients: 1 Joseph’s Brand Lavash Roll-up 1 Large Banana 1 TB of Sunbutter or Natural Peanut Butter Optional: 1 tsp 100% Organic Honey Instructions: Spread Sunbutter on one end…
Steam Oven Makes Healthy Cooking Easy
We’re always looking at what’s new in kitchen appliances to help our customers enhance the experience of their newly remodeled kitchen. Thermador recently released its new Masterpiece™ Series Steam and Convection Oven. This is a stroke of genius. It can be used as a straight convection oven for baking, a steamer for vegetables and seafood, or a combination of both for things like turkey. How would you like to have your Thanksgiving turkey done in less than two hours, and have it stay moist, without any basting? That’s what this new oven will do! You can even steam vegetables and…
An Interior Designer Helps Make a Room Look Finished
I don’t think the average homeowner understands what an interior designer really does. Similar to using a kitchen designer, homeowners feel that they can “do it themselves”. I just spoke with a landlord this week who is doing an apartment over before a new tenant moves in. He is doing most of the work himself, but had a carpenter helping him re-configure the kitchen area and the adjacent bedroom, adding a closet. But the measurements were off. As a result, he’s only going to be able to fit a small apartment sized oven into the kitchen instead of a standard sized oven. He…

New, Elegant Cabinet Knobs
I was looking at Yahoo news today and an article on hot new kitchen trends caught my eye. The news item was based on an article written in Woman’s Day magazine. A new knob design by Amerock, one of the companies that we represent, was featured. Antique Silver Oil Rubbed Bronze Satin Nickel As you can see, the style is unique and fun, but elegant. Here’s the product description from Amerock: “With an air of elegance, the new Abernathy collection adds depth and dimension to any space. Accented by three distinct finishes, these stunning jewel-like knobs add a classic touch…
