New Home in the Pine Hills
When one of our clients made the decision to build her home on one of the cottage home streets at the Pine Hills in Plymouth brought her to Tim to help with the design of her kitchen and baths.
Her taste is mostly transitional, blending simple traditional and Tuscan together. With help from Susan Fiore of Susan Thomas Design, Tim helped them bring their taste to life with the right selection of cabinetry.
She likes the look of real wood that has a “chunky” look to it. After many visits to the showroom, she fell in love with the Churchill Full Overlay door style from Signature Custom Cabinetry in Nutmeg on Cherry stain with a heavy Chocolate Glaze. Along with the beautiful molding that the door boasts, the colors gave her that rich wood grained look that she was after. When a wood door is glazed, the patina and richness of the cherry color are enhanced.
Since the same cabinetry would be used in the butler’s pantry, it was decided to mix in some painted cabinets with the beautiful cherry wood. Ebony paint on cherry with a rubbed-through, worn look was chosen for the island, in a different door style and overlay. Canterbury with a beaded inset was chosen for not just the island, but also bases in the butler’s pantry. It brought that old world Tuscan style into the two spaces.
The cherry wood chimney-style hood above her range brought in that old world charm, even with its simplistic look. All of these materials really complimented the grey theme of her home, from the wall color to the grey stain on the wood floors. Outstanding is the one word that will come to mind when standing inside this home.
Different styles and colors were chosen to match the feel in each bathroom. The Omega Embassy series was used in all of them. The master bath boasted the simplistic Renner door style with a flush inset overlay in an Autumn Cherry finish to give the bath its spa-like feel. The other bathrooms were in the Mecca and Cottage full overlay styles in painted and Cherry finishes.
Every room was topped with beautiful and low maintenance counter tops. The colors were carefully chosen over weeks of time to make sure they complimented the cabinetry. The beauty of quartz materials is that they are literally maintenance free and very consistent in their overall appearance. Low maintenance and beauty are what most clients are seeking these days when it comes to counter tops.
The end result was a beautifully blended array of colors and materials that will bring the home to life when she entertains her family and friends. Homes are meant to be lived in, and this home will embrace them for the rest of their days.
I had a lot of fun helping her with all of her material decisions. I’m glad that the result was a place she calls home.
