TRUSTING YOUR KITCHEN DESIGNER

kitchen designerWhen remodeling a kitchen, the project can vary in size depending on how much you are changing. It can be anywhere from changing your hardware to gutting the kitchen and replacing everything from the flooring to the hardware. Most likely this is not something you do everyday. A professional kitchen designer does. Therefore, it would make sense that they would have more experience. Just like any other profession. That doesn’t necessarily mean they are all the same.

Everybody has a kitchen of some sort, right? Everybody cooks in their kitchen, right? Do we all have the same taste in food? No. Therefore it is safe to say that we don’t prepare our food the same either. Yet, I cannot tell you how many times I hear the phrase “standard kitchen”. What is a “standard kitchen”? The only thing “standard” in a kitchen is that there are boxes on the wall to hold the food we eat and the dishes we use to prepare it. Along with the appliances used to store and cook this food. The process and style of “how” we use it varies from person to person. That doesn’t sound standard to me!

There is a reason why the homeowner has decided to change their kitchen. It does not work for them anymore. Since we all have a different process, there are different reasons “why” the kitchen does not work anymore. How do you know which designer will design your kitchen to work for you? Simple, trust your instinct.

A professional kitchen designer knows how to find out “why” it does not work and what is available to make it work! There is only one “standard” feature you need to look for. One who “listens” to you! You will know this not by just the answers they give you but by the questions they ask you. Are they listening to your thoughts and concerns? Have they asked you a question or expressed a scenario that you haven’t thought of, but could have made a difference in the end result of you loving your new kitchen? If you can answer “yes” to that question, then you are on the right road to your dream kitchen!

Of course, there are many other factors that come into play when choosing a professional kitchen designer. The most important is being able trust your instinct of knowing that they are on the same page and have the same goal. You will then know you have found the right professional for you.
