Remodeling Tips

Remodeling in your home does not have to be an excruciating experience when the right steps are taken. There are many people who are deciding to remodel for the first time so finding the right people becomes more important.

Most remodeling ideas start when a specific need arises for either more space, function or to beautify up the room.  A lot of my clients are usually sitting around their table or island when one says; “Boy, we really need to do our kitchen over but where do we start?”

The key to that statement is the end, “Where do we start.” There are many contractors and kitchen dealers out there to pick from. Finding the right business will mean the difference between a great experience and a bad one.

I find the best place to start is to ask any family member or friends if they have remodeled lately and ask them who they used and if they had a good experience. The other place is to call your local Better Business Bureau and ask them for any members in your area that have a good BBB rating.

Once you have found some names of local contractors and kitchen design places, set up appointments to interview them first. Most people start the bidding process before they really know the businesses that are giving them the prices. So much can go wrong that way with many who will come up with low bids to attract your business and it will be too late when you finally realize this. Spend the upfront time coming up with some valid questions and interview at least 2 businesses per need and in the end, the results will make you smile. Good due diligence always brings good results.

Happy remodeling to you all!
